I specialize in 20th century French literature. At Université Paris-Sorbonne, I wrote a doctoral dissertation on the works of Le Clézio, a contemporary author, in which I analyzed his works from a diachronic perspective and discussed his change of ideas and literature in connection with his criticism of the modern state of Western Europe (Masao SUZUKI, J.-M.G. Le Clézio: l'évolution spirituelle et littéraire. Par-delà l'Occident moderne, Paris: L'Harmattan, 2007). At present, I am studying not only Le Clézio but also other authors, such as Michaux, Artaud, Camus, Duras, and Koltès, who share a relative perspective toward Western Europe.
