I have been engaged in various activities since I came to Tokyo from France, such as trying to train hapless students in class, writing novels that bore readers, publishing papers to disseminate absurd ideas, betraying Japanese authors by translating their novels into French, studying fields that nobody else would be interested in (translation studies, theatre, versification, Renaissance literature, etc.), and so on. Looking back, I have had a great time. I would like to continue such activities for as long as I can.
